| Information POLTURF REPORT - SALES 2001 |
Everyone must agree, that Thoroughbred Sales in 2000 were really successful for breeders, vendors, owners and organisers. The question was if this growing trend is continued in 2001. In January all people involved in Thoroughbred industry were happy to find new law rules regarding Polish Jockey Club and racing organisation established, but serious financial troubles of Sluzewiec Racecourse in Warsaw was very dangerous for the further breeding development as well as for sales results. In addition, training fees increased more then prices at the same time period. In such uncomfortable situation Polturf - Polish leading sale company started his fifth year of activity.
Yearlings
In the tables below there are results of 2001 sales in comparison to previous year. It should be noticed, that Kozienice and Strzegom Studs organised their sales themselves.

As you can see average price increased more then 43%, which is enough to breeder to claim all costs referring to one yearling. The total trade is almost 17% bigger, but there was no progress in percentage of horses sold (-17%). In 2000 we had 183 yearlings in the ring and 2 less in 2001. Organisers made their best to promote Polish Thoroughbreds abroad and clients from Austria, Czech and Slovak Republics bought 18 horses for total 485.000 PZL (almost 30% of total turnover). In 2000 we had 11 yearlings exported to these countries for 177.000 PZL.
